Cerebral Palsy Alliance’s Sports Program has partnered with UTS and is seeking male and female participants aged over 14 years with special needs to join the UTS Northside Futsal team. No previous Futsal experience is required.

The team will compete in Division 2 in the upcoming 2015/16 season of the AWD (Athletes with Disabilities) Futsal League from October – February (with a break over Christmas & new year). Full Futsal rules will apply and official NSW Football referees will referee each game.

The Futsal league is a project of the NSW Football that aims to provide opportunities for athletes with disabilities or special needs to participate in a structured and competitive league.

Games are played from Wollongong to Penrith. All players will receive a full UTS football kit, and will participate in weekly training session held at the Sydney Academy of Sport, Narrabeen.

Registration is free for all participants recruited by Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

Cerebral Palsy Alliance’s Sports Manager, Peter Kings says the support of UTS Northside and other Futsal Premier or State League clubs involved in the League is helping making sport more accessible for children with disabilities.

‘Sport is not just about fitness and health; it’s also about inclusion, being part of a team and friendships. With mainstream clubs supporting the Futsal League, kids with disabilities now have an opportunity to join an established club where they can make friends, learn team work and/or leadership skills, and develop their football capabilities.’
