Meet Karni Liddell, 2016 Patron for this year’s – International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) which is celebrated each year on 3 December.

Karni is a highly acclaimed international speaker, radio broadcaster, disability advocate and Paralympic champion.

She is passionate about many social issues as evidenced by her role as a disability champion, ambassador for the National Disability Insurance Scheme in Queensland, and member of Dame Quentin Bryce’s Domestic and Family Violence Council.

“As Patron, I want to raise awareness of what can be achieved when people with disability are given the same opportunities to reach their full potential as other Australians are,” she said.

The best way for you to celebrate IDPwD is to hold an event in your community, organisation or business. It creates an opportunity to think, talk about and acknowledge people with disability positively.
