Andrew used geek skills to increase independence at home

Sydneysider Andrew, 20, is like lots of young men – he’s got his favourite league team (Go the Dragons!), he likes getting out and about with friends and he’s a bit of a geek.

Keeping up with the latest tech developments is something he shares with Angelo, his father. A few years ago, the pair joined forces and over time the end result of their ‘hobby’ is a fully accessible home. What they accomplished using Google and other products is amazing so they decided Andrew should demonstrate what they achieved in order to inspire others.

And it has. Their video has more than 9,000 likes and heaps of comments have been positive. Here are some examples:

“My students with severely mentally handicapped and cerebral palsy have more hope!” posted Brenda.

Shannon says, “Would LOVE to learn more about all the products used here - including his awesome iPhone mount! Independence within the home, such an awesome thing!”

Amanda added, “Yes I’m interested to in the iPhone mount, this would be awesome for my brother! As he loses his phones all the time or drops it and can’t pick it up.”

“OMG I am loving where technology is going in this area!!! The independence that soooo many people can potentially have is AWESOME!!” wrote Kylee.
