Treasure Island CIMT is an intensive 9 day program (36 hours one-on-one therapy) for children with hemiplegia or monoplegia.

CIMT, or Constraint Induced Movement Therapy leverages the latest research around neural plasticity of the brain and is delivered in fun, play-based, pirate themed activities and games that are designed to engage your child’s affected arm.

What's included?

  • 36 hours of 1-on-1 therapy with a dedicated practitioner in a group setting

  • 4 hours goal setting meeting and post-assessment meeting

  • Personalised  home program to further develop and maintain skills learnt

  • Parent coaching to help maximise benefits of the home program


CIMT is run by experienced occupational therapists who provide quality therapy techniques in a fun environment that will also help your child build self-esteem, self-confidence and develop friendships.

You can use your National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) package to purchase this service under Improved Daily Living Skills.


What’s does this intensive cover?

Your child will be individually assessed to determine their skill level and to set goals for the therapy.

This is followed by the intensive group program which involves:

  • The use of a hand mitt or arm sling to constrain the non-affected arm while engaging your child with fun activities to entice them to move the affected arm

  • A custom-designed home program to further develop their skills at home

  • Coaching for you to maximise the benefits of the home program

  • Reassessment at the end to see how much your child has progressed.

Taking part will also give your child the opportunity to meet and socialise with other children who have hemiplegia or monoplegia, whilst improving their hand skills.


Who is this intensive for?

Children with hemiplegia or monoplegia who are able to understand and follow simple instructions and cope in a group environment.Children must attend the entire 9 day program.
