On Saturday 23 May, Craig Robberds will once again host a fundraising dinner in memory of his little girl, Gabby who passed away five years ago. Funds from this year’s event will go towards therapy services, progrms and new equipment.

Cricketing legends Glenn McGrath and Rodney Hogg along with official ambassador, Sam Kekovich will be the special guest speakers at the event which will be held from 6.30pm at the Canberra Southern Cross Club.

Gabby was well known and loved by our Canberra team. Each week, she attended 2-3 therapy sessions including playgroup, swimming, physiotherapy and touchpad/computer recognition. When Gabby unexpectedly passed away as a result of a seizure in May 2010, the family decided they wanted to help other families living with cerebral palsy.

In 2011, Craig organised the first Gabby Robberds dinner which raised more than $120,000. With these funds, the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Gabby Robberds Student Scholarship was established. The student scholarship is now awarded each year by Cerebral Palsy Alliance to an outstanding physiotherapy student at the University of Canberra. The scholarship is offered to postgraduate students in their first year for placement in their second year. The scholarship includes a cash award plus a five-week clinical placement with Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

With a great line-up of guest speakers, this year’s event promises to be one of Canberra’s most sought after tickets. There will also be a range of great prizes available in silent auctions and raffles thanks to the support and sponsorship from many of Canberra’s local businesses.
