Cerebral Palsy Alliance offers a large variety of group programs for people of all ages and interests. Our groups cater for a range of disabilities, in addition to cerebral palsy, and are facilitated by highly skilled and dedicated staff who support participants to learn, play and reach their goals.

Arts and crafts, tech talks and beauty tips are some of our indoor groups. To really challenge, the more adventurous can head outdoors with programs that include obstacle courses, scooter rides and strength training.

Places are limited, to avoid disappointment we encourage you to book early.

Kinder gym

For ages 2 to 5 years

Lake Macquarie at local gymnastics centre

10:30am - 11:30am, every Friday for 5 weeks
A group gymnastics program for preschool children. Sessions include a range of fun activities focused on improving strength, coordination and balance.

Boys club

For boys aged 7 to 13 years

Newcastle (Lake Macquarie, Cerebral Palsy Alliance site)

3.30pm - 4.30pm, every Tuesday for 6 weeks
This active group provides speech pathology sessions to children who have a mild speech delay. Therapy sessions incorporate a range of indoor and outdoor activities and adventures to promote communication skills and social interaction.

A physiotherapy group program targeting fitness, strength training, stretches and balance for young adults, including the development of an individual goal directed program.

Happy hands

For ages 3 to 5 years

10:00am - 11:00am, every Wednesday for 5 weeks
This group program uses evidence based upper limb interventions in a fun environment. Group participants will engage in a range of activities which will build the skills needed to use both hands in play based activity.

Introduction session to the Hanen Program "It takes two to talk"

For parents of children aged 0 to 6 years

"It takes two to talk" is a family focused program for parents with children aged 0 to 6 who have communication difficulties. This introductory session provides information about the 12 week group program and opportunities to ask questions before starting the group sessions.

This group aims to support teenagers to explore the challenges they face in daily life, to develop some strategies to help them maintain and build self-esteem and to support them to develop skills that will assist them in everyday social situations.

A fun group program for powered mobility users. Activities support the development of powered mobility skills for safety and independence.

A craft based activity group for children who would like to practice using their hands. Your child will be encouraged to use both hands to design, build and decorate some amazing projects.

For children commencing school in 2018

9:00am to 12:00pm, daily for three days
Specifically designed for children starting school next year, this group assesses each child's skills and needs in relation to school readiness. Over the three day program children participate in school readiness activities that include class routines, telling news, pencil skills, gross motor skills, craft and self care.

This fun and active gymnastics program is run by a physiotherapist and qualified gymnastics instructor. The program focuses on improving strength, coordination and balance.

Handwriting club

For ages 6 to 10 years

3:30pm - 4:30pm, weekly for 4 weeks
A group program designed to assist children who are experiencing handwriting difficulties. The program starts with identifying each child's needs around handwriting intervention and then includes a range of fun group and individual activities to improve their handwriting skills.
