The NSW Government has announced three providers for specialist supported accommodation and respite services across the state:

  • Life Without Barriers – Central Coast, Nepean Blue Mountains, South Eastern Sydney
  • Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) – Northern Sydney
  • Achieve Australia – Norton Rd SSL and remaining SSL group homes arising from the Metro Residences redevelopment

A media release on this announcement can be found here.

These providers are in addition to the five organisations announced earlier this year. Information on these providers can be found here.

This announcement comes shortly after the successful transfer of NSW Government run clinical and allied health services to The Benevolent Society on 28 July 2017.

The transfer

For continuity of services and to retain a capable and experienced disability workforce, FACS staff will also transfer to the new provider.
We expect the transfers to start from February 2018. Details are still being finalised and affected staff, residents, families and guardians will be updated as information becomes available.

Selection process

It was an extensive and competitive selection process to find the right providers to take on these services. The announced providers have a long and proud history of delivering accommodation and respite services to people with disability. This experience is consistent with a key principle that residents, their families and guardians told us was important when selecting new providers.
