About the Community Living Program
The Cerebral Palsy Alliance offers long-term accommodation support for people with cerebral palsy in the Sydney Metropolitan area and in the Hunter region of NSW.
Housing styles vary - from villas and apartments to shared houses – accommodating between 2 and 12 people. A hostel, Venee Burges House, is also available for people with higher health care needs. Responsive, flexible and individual service is provided to ensure all client’s needs are met. Staff support is provided according to individual need. At the highest level of support, staff are available whenever residents are at home. They provide support in all areas of daily living, including personal care, domestic assistance and access to activities in the community. Staff are also are on duty through the night. At Venee Burges Hostel, registered nurses are on duty 24 hours.
The lowest level of support may require only occasional drop-in visits.
Who is Eligible?
Adults with cerebral palsy who are assessed and referred through the NSW Department of Human Services, Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) Vacancy Management System.
When is it Available?
The service is provided 7 days a week. All residents have funded day-time activities, such as day program, supported employment, etc.
Cost
Funding is provided through the NSW Department of Human Services, Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC). Residents pay a percentage of their income for rent, food and utilities.
