Centre-based Respite for Adults
Cerebral Palsy Alliance offers planned residential respite stays for adults with cerebral palsy or similar conditions at two respite centres in Sydney - St Ives and Chester Hill.
Clients stay at a comfortable, purpose-built 5 bedroom house. Trained staff provide support in all areas of daily living, including personal care, domestic assistance and access to activities and events in the community. Outings are planned according to the interests of the clients. The service is NOT an emergency respite service.
Who is Eligible?
Adults with cerebral palsy or similar conditions.
Families/clients may book in advance according to their needs. Clients can stay on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, depending upon demand. Bookings can sometimes be made at short notice subject to availability.
When and Where is it Available?
Both respite centres operate 7 days a week, offering short to medium stays of 1 to 7 days. Both services close at Easter and during the Christmas/New Year period.
Cost
A stay at one of the Adult Respite Centres is a subsidised daily rate of $28. Clients are also required to cover the cost of outings, e.g. movie tickets or entry fees.
